Announcements:

  • CORRECTION with Apologies: Carmen Sarita-Reyes, MD have been appointed as our Representative from the Department of Pathology for the Cancer Care Committee
  • At the annual meeting of the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) Dr. Mark Flomenbaum was elected as a member of the Board of Directors
  • Dr. Mark Flomenbaum was also re-appointed as Chair of the Committee for maintenance of Forensic Pathology Board Certification, and was designated as the scientific program chair for the semi-annual NAME Meeting in February with the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.  The theme of the scientific program will be “The Negative Autopsy”
  • Barbara Nikolajczyk, PhD has been accepted to attend the Mid-Career Women Faculty Professional Development Seminar December 11-14 in Scottsdale Arizona

Presentations:

  • Dr. Nader Rahimi was invited to give a lecture in Boston at the Angiogenesis Meeting 2010 held on Friday November 5th. The title of his talk is “Role of PLCg1 in endothelial cell function and angiogenesis”
  • Zack Hunter, recent MA graduate and current PhD candidate gave a talk in October at the 6th International Workshop on Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia entitled “Genetic Perspectives on Familial Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia” in Venice, Italy
  • Zack Hunter, recent MA graduate and current PhD candidate has his abstract accepted for a poster presentation at the American Society of Hematology this December in Orlando, Florida: “Aberrant Expression of Regulatory miRNAs and Transcripts for IRS-PI3K Growth and Survival Signaling In Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia” Zachary Hunter, Yang Cao, Megan Lewicki, Jenny Sun, Hsiuyi Tseng, Evdoxia Hatjiharissi, Lian Xu, Guang Yang, Yangsheng Zhou, Xia Liu, Jiang Jingrui, Christopher Patterson, Steven P.
