Announcements:
- Carmen Sarita-Reyes, MD and Nancy Miller, MD have been appointed to the BUSM Admission Committee as Representatives from the Department of Pathology for the Cancer Care Committee.
- The Clinical Chemistry section has nearly completed its validation of the new Chemistry and Immunochemistry analyzers. The completion of validation studies represents a major step forward in building the new laboratory on the 7th floor of 670 Albany building. As part of the process the Clinical Chemistry section will be conducting a Reference Range Study in January. Volunteers are needed. If interested, please contact Drs. Evrim Erdogan or Martin Kroll, Medical Directors for Chemistry.
- Congratulations to Dr. Lija Joseph her application to Intersociety Council for Pathology Information (ICPI) for matching funds for the Medical Student Interest Group Program has been approved!
- Madhu (Jagannathan) Bogdan, 4th year PhD Candidate has been invited to attend the post-doc research McGarry Symposium at UT Southwestern on Thursday, October 28th
- Laboratory Medicine would like to welcome Marianna Ruzinova, MD, PhD as the new director for Clinical Hematology
- Dr. Daniel Remick has been elected to the Council of the Society for Leukocyte Biology for a 2 year term
- Congratulations on passing the Qualifying Exams!
- The Kurosawa Lab welcomes Patrick Tylek, a BU GMS Master’s Student. His undergraduate degree is from Northeastern University and he worked for a while at EMD Serono in Billerica, MA. Patrick will be working on our Shiga Toxin project to look at the role of growth factors in epithelial responses to the toxins. Please welcome him and ask him to say something cool in Polish
- Later this month, Clinical Chemistry will be converting blood gas and rapid electrolyte testing from the Siemens and Nova platforms to that of Radiometer. The change will provide a truly rapid and accurate whole blood creatinine as well as provide capabilities for whole blood bilirubin.
- The Nader Rahimi Lab has moved to the 5th floor at 670 Albany Street
- The Martin Steffen Lab has moved to the 4th floor at 670 Albany Street
