How to Care for Perinatal Individuals with Psychiatric Illness

Providing mental health treatment to a person during their pregnancy can present unique challenges. In this presentation, Dr. Yonkers will review some of these challenges. She will review the principles of managing this population during their pregnancy, including psychopharmacological treatment. Additionally, she will discuss the association between common psychiatric conditions, pharmacological treatment and some adverse birth outcomes. In closing, Dr. Yonkers will review some of the new treatments for people in the postpartum period.
