Research-Based Advice on Course Evaluation

Did you know that the Center for Teaching & Learning offers research-based advice on how to interpret course evaluations and student ratings?

Every semester, we help BU faculty understand which questions matter the most and why, and how to contextualize these survey results into a broader system of evaluation which can help faculty improve their teaching and their courses. Faculty can request a consultation at any time using our online form: http://www.bu.edu/ctl/consultations-program/request-a-consultation/

To supplement student ratings, the CTL offers confidential Teaching Observations and Learning Analysis Polls (mid-semester student evaluations). These two services provide a non-judgmental analysis of an individual instructor’s strengths and weaknesses. In addition, our semester-based and year-long programs offer a variety of robust opportunities for instructors to network with other faculty and learn from the best instructors at Boston University.
