Alumni Awards
The Alumni Association of Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine confers Distinguished Alumni Awards and Humanitarian Awards on graduates of the medical school.
These awards are given in recognition of the distinguished clinical, teaching, and research careers of alumni or in recognition of their significant contribution to the betterment of their fellow human beings and are presented during the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine’s Alumni Weekend.
The Distinguished Alumni Awards are presented to graduates in recognition of outstanding and widely recognized achievement, particularly to those who exemplify the standards and objectives of the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine through personal conduct, professional accomplishments, and community service. Distinct preference is given to those whose achievements significantly impact the medical field on a national and global scale.
The Humanitarian Awards recognize graduates of the School who have provided unique, compassionate care to patients who have special needs because of specific afflictions, poverty, or living conditions that lack resources. The award recognizes dedication to providing medical care to the underprivileged and under-served. The recipients have devoted a significant portion of their medical career to this type of care.
