US citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply during their sophomore year of college, with the support and recommendation of their premedical advisors.
Admission to the program is based on academic record, letters of recommendation, scope and quality of college and community activities, and other factors such as personality, character, and maturity. Competitive applicants are invited to BUSM to be interviewed.
Requirements include biology (one year) with laboratory and general chemistry (one year) with laboratory. In addition to the standard courses in the humanities and social sciences, applicants are strongly urged to complete the equivalent of one full year of physics (with laboratory) prior to beginning their senior year at Boston University.
Students are required to spend their senior year residing in Boston University housing. Students must take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) while in the program and are required to file an AMCAS application in the fall of their senior year.
Students admitted to the EMSSP are granted provisional acceptance to Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. Students accepted to EMSSP are expected to attend Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, if promoted.
