We are an academic department of both Boston University School of Medicine as well as Boston Medical Center. We strongly believe that the cultural and social diversity of our faculty, staff, residents and students is vitally important to the distinction and excellence of our clinical, research and academic programs. As a department and institution we embrace and champion equity, diversity and inclusion and reject racism. Our mission is to advance Pathology in the three main fields, Clinical Service, Education and Research. We manage all of the clinical laboratories, including point of care management, as well as anatomic pathology at Boston Medical Center and affiliate off-site health centers. We have educational programs that span from Residency and Fellowship, to Graduate programs for both master’s and doctoral students. We have a history of leading education and research in the field and continue to have a robust research portfolio from cancer research, immune dysregulation, and neuropathology (2022).
