Student Research

Students and trainees conducting research as employees or agents of Boston Medical Center or Boston University Medical Campus must follow the same requirements for IRB review of research as other investigators if their activities constitute engagement in human subjects research.  Trainees refer to interns, residents, fellows, and postdoctoral scholars.

Students and trainees may be listed as the Principal Investigator in the INSPIR application with a Supervising Principal Investigator who is the faculty member overseeing the research activities. The Supervising Principal Investigator has the same responsibilities for protecting human subjects as the Principal Investigator.
