Dr. DJ Wallman Granted Ignition Award

We are pleased to share that Dr. DJ Wallman was granted an Ignition Award, provided by BU Technology Development to better support upcoming science and technology.
Personalized, precision gene editing therapy has the potential to revolutionize medicine and therapeutic development relies on access to disease models for pre-clinical studies. Limited access to an adequate number of human, patient-specific cells is holding back the development of curative strategies for tens of thousands of patients in the U.S with primary ciliary dyskinesia. In Dr. Wallman’s project, called CilioMAP, they generate human airway stem cells (“iPSC-derived Basal Cells”) engineered to contain any genetic variant that is then used to model any monogenic ciliopathy in both in vitro and in vivo culture systems.
