“Using Light Emission to Predict How Well Breast Tumor Tissue Responds to Standard Chemotherapy”

Dr. Darren Roblyer, a professor in Boston University’s College of Engineering, is bringing innovative technological solutions to the problem of determining if cancer chemotherapy is effective for tumors such as breast cancer. He has developed a wearable optical device that uses near-infrared light to determine whether tissue is reacting to cytotoxic chemotherapy, in technology similar to the pulse oximeter that we all know for measurement of blood oxygenation in a fingertip.
