LOI May 9th – Tufts 2014 Healthy Aging Grants
The THPF is accepting LOIs for the second cycle of its 2014 Healthy Aging Grants Program in three focus areas: Health & Wellness, Purposeful Engagement, and Empowerment.
Letters of Inquiry due: May 9, 2014
- Health & Wellness: This category provides support for projects or organizations working to promote chronic disease self-management and prevention, exercise and nutrition, and mobility, strength, and balance for older adults.
- Purposeful Engagement: This category focuses on projects or organizations working to help older adults engage in their communities and/or with other generations as well as find encore careers and volunteer opportunities. Priority will be given to projects with a focus on caregiver support. Recognizing the critical role that caregivers play in the lives of older adults, the foundation is committed to finding new and innovative programs for family and other informal caregivers that improve the emotional and physical well-being of caregivers and/or care recipients, as well as programs that increase knowledge of how to care for an older adult and/or boost awareness of caregiver resources.
- Empowerment: Grants awarded in this category support projects designed to provide access to information so that older adults can learn about programs and services in their communities. The foundation also funds transportation programs that empower older adults to be more active in their communities, thereby reducing social isolation.
The foundation does not set a minimum or maximum dollar amount for grants. On average, the foundation gives ~$3 million per year to healthy aging programs. For grant requests greater than $100,000, the foundation encourages potential grantees to contact program staff to schedule an initial discussion before letters of inquiry are due.
