Diversity is a core value of the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology & Biophysics. We are committed to cultivating a diverse, inclusive, and respectful environment for individuals of all backgrounds and traditions, regardless of gender, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, disability, religion, age, or sexual orientation. We believe that diversity enhances and enriches our teaching, mentoring, and research missions. Therefore, we strive to increase the diversity of our faculty, research fellows, staff, and students. To support and increase the diversity of our trainee population, our faculty serve as mentors for students and postdocs from traditionally underrepresented groups in science, and participate in related recruitment activities at colleges, universities, and national conferences.

Boston University’s Graduate Medical Sciences here on the Medical Campus sponsors various events, workshops and networking events for underrepresented students and faculty.

Graduate Medical Sciences hosts the Community Catalyst Center (C3). This center fosters holistic success for the diverse GMS student community. C3 helps students acclimate to Boston and the Medical Campus and adjust to the advancing academics of graduate school while gaining a sense of belonging early in the programs at GMS. This center welcomes all GMS students, including international, first-generation college graduates, students of color, LGBTQIA+, veterans and military-affiliated students, as well as students who are parents or those with disabilities.
