Dr. Paula Gardiner publishes article about Integrative Medicine curricula in residency programs

The study results, which are published online in Explore: The Journal of Science and Healing, were collected using data from an online survey completed by 212 national residency program directors. The study was led by Paula Gardiner, MD, MPH, assistant professor of family medicine at BUSM and assistant director of integrative medicine at Boston Medical Center. Yoga for Health Fundraiser for the Boston Medical Center
September 8th, 2013

TriYoga Boston is hosting a fundraiser for Integrative Medicine at BMC on Sunday, September 8 from 11:30-4:30 pm. Classes are by donation and all proceeds will benefit the Program for Integrative Medicine and Health Care Disparities. See the fundraiser flyer for more information.

11:30 – 12:30 Chair Yoga – Suitable for those with movement issues including MS and PD and those who have difficulty getting on and off the floor.

12:00 – 1:00  Blooming Lotuses I, Girls Ages 7 - 10 - A class to empower young girls while promoting self-esteem, healthy body image, and a mindful presence.

1:00 – 2:15  Free the Spine – a Class for back sufferers. Learn some simple techniques you can do at home to strengthen core muscles, learn optimal alignment, and release tension.

1:30 – 2:30  Blooming Lotuses II, Girls Ages 11-13 - An energizing and inspirational practice that fuses self-study, imaginative poses, and methods for stress and anxiety management

2:30 – 3:45 Yoga for Stress Reduction – Yoga is one of the best stress reduction techniques in existence. Learn simple techniques for relieving stress from the mind and body.

4:00 – 4:30 Dr. Robert Saper – a Vision for the Future of Healthcare - Come and hear a visionary model for healthcare, and what Dr. Saper’s research has shown about the results.

National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems spotlights BMC’s Program for Integrative Medicine and Health Care Disparities

The National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems represents America's safety net hospitals and health systems. These facilities provide high-quality health services for all patients, including the uninsured and underinsured, regardless of ability to pay. Boston Medical Center is the largest safety net hospital in New England.

Nov. 30: Escape Fire screening at Boston University School of Public Health

This Friday, November 30 the Boston University School of Public Health Students for Quality Health Care group will be screening the documentary Escape Fire followed by a panel discussion.

BMC Doctor Named to CMS Innovation Advisory Program Aimed at Improving Patient Care

Winnie Suen, MD, MSc, a geriatrician and palliative care consultant at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and assistant professor of medicine at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM), has been selected as a member of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Innovation Advisors Program. The initiative, launched by the CMS Innovation Center, will help health professionals deepen or sharpen skills that drive improvements to patient care and reduce costs. Second Annual Integrative Nursing Conference at Boston Medical Center

The second annual Integrative Nursing Conference entitled "The Art of Healing" will be held on May 1, 2012 from 4:00-7:15 pm in Hiebert Lounge at Boston University School of Medicine. Peg Baim, BS, NP, Clinical Director of the Center for Training at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at MGH will be the keynote speaker for this event.
