Michaela Barry, MD (2026)
Medical School: University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry
Residency: University of Pittsburgh Medical Center
Michaela is from just north of Boston. She moved to upstate New York to complete undergraduate studies at Cornell University, and medical school at the University of Rochester. She credits her undergrad and medical school communities with helping her to develop a passion for health equity, with specific interests in reducing barriers to care for patients experiencing homelessness, serious mental illness, and substance use disorders. She further developed her interests in endovascular infection during her residency training at UPMC. She is excited to train in Infectious Diseases and Addiction Medicine at BMC, where she looks forward to developing her knowledge in both fields, and learning advocacy skills along the way. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys container gardening, spending time outside and writing.
Scott Fabricant, MD, PhD (2026)
Medical School: Rutgers New Jersey Medical School
Residency: NYP Weill Cornell
Scott is originally from Syosset NY, and moved west to attend undergrad at Washington University in St Louis. He then moved further west to Macquarie University in Australia to study evolutionary ecology, and got involved in organizing campus sexual health programming. He later returned to the US to attend medical school at Rutgers NJMS, where he led student initiatives enhancing the continuity of care for people with substance use disorders in the emergency department and local homeless shelters. He did his internal medicine residency at NYP Weill Cornell, where his interests in ID grew (“it’s still ecology!” he says), and implemented a project assessing resident attitudes towards PICC use for PWID. His academic interests include medical education, substance use disorders, HIV prevention and sexual health. His personal interests include his dog, other people’s dogs (with permission), eating new food, traveling to new places, and long naps.
Stephanie Lafollette, MD (2026)
Medical School: Tufts University School of Medicine
Residency: UMass Chan Medical School
Stephanie is from Southington, CT but has been in MA ever since she attended undergrad at Holy Cross. She went to Tufts for medical school and then residency at UMass where she fell in love with medical education and decided to stay an extra year as a Chief Resident. Her ID interests include antibiotic stewardship and general ID. Outside of work she loves taking care of her freshwater fish tank, numerous house plants, and checking out speakeasies around Boston with her husband.

Roshni Singh, MD (2025)
Residency: Boston Medical Center
Current Position: Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Boston University/BMC
Roshni is from Pleasantville, NY and attended Boston University as an undergraduate, then went to medical school at Drexel University where she was first introduced to HIV medicine. She returned to Boston University for Internal Medicine residency where she further developed an interest in Infectious Disease while on the dedicated inpatient ID service. Roshni has worked closely with faculty particularly in the area of HCV research. Her interests include HIV/viral hepatitis, general ID and health equity. When she’s not at work, she loves taking laps around Jamaica Pond, scoping out dance classes around the city, scrolling through French baking videos on Instagram or daydreaming about a good New York bagel.
Traci Mikasa, DO, MA (2025)

Current Position: Critical Care Fellow, Montefiore Medical Center
Traci Mikasa, DO, MA is from Seattle, WA. She attended Seattle University as an undergraduate and worked in vaccine development at the Infectious Diseases Research Institute in Seattle before going on to medical school at the Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences. Traci finished her resident in the Legacy Emanuel Internal Medicine Residency program in Portland, OR. Traci’s medical interests include HIV, Tropical Medicine, Transplant medicine, POCUS, Women’s Health, Underserved populations. When she’s not at work, Traci loves dogs (especially her Corgi), hikes, the coast/beach, exploring new restaurants and neighborhoods, reading non-medical books, cooking/baking/grilling, sleeping in, wine/beer/liquor, Netflix binging, and online shopping.
Alyssa Bacay, DO (2025)

Alyssa is originally from Manchester, CT and received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College, and D.O. from New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her academic interests focus on HIV primary care and health equity. In her spare time she enjoys baking, discovering new music and attending concerts with her husband, walking around Jamaica Plain and trying new restaurants around the city, anything Costco/Kirkland-related, and reading novels.

Jemma (Benson) Love (2024)
Residency: Yale University
Current Position: Assistant Professor of Medicine/Clinician Educator, UMass Chan Medical School
Jemma is from Massachusetts and attended Haverford College where she majored in cultural anthropology and completed a senior thesis on the intersection of gender and literacy in Nicaragua. After college, she lived in Philadelphia and worked at a nonprofit organization working to address health equity in immigrant communities. She attended medical school at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. She then completed internal medicine residency at Yale. she continued her involvement in immigrant health advocacy, working on a statewide campaign to expand Medicaid to undocumented minors and giving Internal Medicine Grand Rounds on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on undocumented communities. Her career interests are in the infectious sequelae of migration, and advocacy for immigrant and refugee populations.
Alan Chan (2024)

Current Position: Clinical Instructor/Hospitalist, University of Washington
Alan grew up in Florida, completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, medical training at Florida State University, and Internal Medicine Residency at Boston Medical Center. In medical school, he worked on assessing and expanding access to PrEP in primary care offices. In residency, he worked on integrating PrEP evaluations into the inpatient care setting. His interests include HIV primary care and medical education. In his free time, he enjoys baking and traveling.
Miriam Nathan (2024)

Current Position: Assistant Professor of Medicine/Hospitalist/Clinician Educator, Boston University/BMC
Miriam attended NYU for her undergraduate studies in French and Chemistry. For her graduate medical education, she received her MD from Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University, and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. While there, she worked on a COVID-19 genome sequencing project, and was a member of their M&M and Diversity committees. Outside of medicine, she enjoys model rocketry, writing, kickboxing and karaoke.

Salah Abdelgadir (2023)

Current Position: Assistant Professor of Medicine/Clinician Educator, Boston University/BMC
Salah was born and grew up in Toronto, Canada, to Sudanese immigrant parents. He moved to Sudan at the age of eight, which immersed him into a new culture, language, and surroundings. He was enamored by everything around him, and such experiences had only widened his scope of awareness. After completing his secondary studies, he enrolled in medical school and established an interest in global, rural health. Following graduation, he set his eyes on becoming an infectious disease specialist after firsthand its individual and communal effects on societies he had served and inhabited. He completed a rural health rotation at the Beersheba Springs Medical Clinic, a non-profit clinic that serves the community of Grundy county in rural Tennessee. He also participated in establishing a hypertension homeless clinic in Chattanooga, TN. Moving forward, he would like to pursue further his interest in medical anthropology, epidemiology, creative writing, and global health. Outside his academic interests, he enjoys going on hikes, live music, traveling, reading and sports.
Rhiannon Chubb (2023)

Current Position: ID Clinician, Cape Cod and Falmouth Hospitals
Rhiannon grew up in Manhattan, Kansas before attending Smith College. She received her medical degree from Boston University where she helped found a student-led group focused on health education for homeless young families. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Brown University. After residency, she split her time working as a primary care physician at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections and a hospitalist at Rhode Island Hospital. Her interests include HIV and other infectious complications of injection drug use. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys hiking, rugby, and baking.
Katherine Anne Reifler, MD (2023)

Current Position: Assistant Professor of Medicine/Clinician Educator, Boston University/BMC
Katherine grew up in Chicago, studied history of science an undergrad at Harvard University, attended medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and completed an internal medicine residency at Boston Medical Center. During college, she lived and worked abroad in Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and Peru, and developed an interest in health in low-resource settings and migrant health care. In medical school, she worked in Kisumu, Kenya on improving HIV diagnosis in the emergency care setting. In residency, she was involved in the Refugee and Immigrant clinic and Global Health pathway. Most recently, she has worked on research and education to improve detection of and treatment for Chagas disease. Outside of the hospital she enjoys running, spending time with friends and family, and hanging out with other people’s dogs.

Juan was born in Quito, Ecuador where he attended medical school at Universidad Internacional del Ecuador. After obtaining his medical degree he worked as a general practitioner for one year in the underserved outskirts of Quito; That experience shaped his interest in Internal medicine and above all in Infectious Diseases. Juan completed his residency training at the University of Miami/JFK Medical Center. His areas of interest include antibiotic stewardship and mycobacterial infections. Outside of medicine, Juan enjoys listening to music, playing the guitar, and reading.
