Congratulations to Christopher Heaphy, PhD, on Receiving a BMC and Department of Medicine Pilot Grant
Please join us in congratulating Christopher Heaphy, PhD, a recipient of this year’s BMC and Department of Medicine Pilot Grant. The program recognizes promising early-stage research and investigators whose innovative work has the potential to generate impactful data and position them for future funding.
Dr. Heaphy’s project, “Defining Aging-Associated Stromal Niches Linked to Aggressive Prostate Cancer,” will examine how age-related changes in the tumor microenvironment may contribute to aggressive prostate cancer and disparities in health outcomes.Using a cohort of prostate cancer tissue from Boston Medical Center (BMC) patients, the study will investigate how aging-associated cellular changes, extracellular matrix remodeling, and immune suppression interact to create conditions that promote cancer progression.
