Shuaiying Cui, Ph.D, Promoted to Associate Professor of Medicine

We are pleased to announce that Shuaiying Cui, Ph.D, has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine in the Section of Hematology and Medical Oncology. Dr. Cui received his Ph.D. in Genetics at the University of Science and Technology of China and completed post-doctoral research fellowships in the laboratories of Yi Zhang and James Engel at the University of Michigan. He was recruited to Boston University and Boston Medical Center in 2016, where his work on elucidating new mechanisms for the induction of fetal hemoglobin has gained significant international attention. In 2019, Dr Cui received a prestigious Doris Duke Sickle Cell Disease/Advancing Cures Award, putting him in the company of a select group of high-profile national investigators in the field of red blood cell disorders. In 2022, Dr. Cui received an R01 grant for his work targeting PGC1-alpha as a potential treatment for sickle cell disease. Dr. Cui’s research contributions have important scientific and therapeutic implications; we congratulate him on his promotion!
