New Faculty: Julia Burns, MD

We are excited to announce that Julia Burns, MD has accepted an offer to join the Section of Geriatrics at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) and Boston Medical Center (BMC). Dr. Burns started in August and will be joining our home care and clinic group.

Dr. Burns graduated as a Presidential Scholar from Fairfield University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then obtained her MS in Biomedical Sciences from New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY in 2011. She subsequently obtained her MD from Albany Medical College, Albany, New York in 2016. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at NYU’s Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, New York where she also served as an Associate Chief Resident.  She completed the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital (Icahn School of Medicine) in June 30, 2021. Dr. Burn’s research interests center around education, transitions of care, quality improvement, hypertension in the elderly and dementia. 

Outside of work, Dr. Burn’s hobbies are skiing, traveling, trying new restaurants, spending time with her family and making her new house a home for her family.

We are thrilled to welcome Julia to our faculty and the outstanding care and skills she will bring to our patients and trainees!
