SummerLab 2023!

Thank you for your patience and continued interest in SummerLab. The laboratory space for the SummerLab program is currently undergoing renovations, but we are excited to announce that our new home on the Boston University Charles River Campus will be ready for SummerLab 2023!

The SummerLab 2023 schedule will be:

July 10-14 – DNA, Genes, and Drug Production
July 17-21 – Let’s Get Physio!
July 24-28 – DNA, Genes, and Drug Production

DNA, Genes, and Drug Production focuses on the central concepts and skills of recombinant DNA technology as they apply to biotechnology. The use of green fluorescent protein (GFP) allows students to visualize the processes of gene expression, cell lysis, and protein purification.

Let’s Get Physio! allows students to explore the relationships among body movements, power generation, biomechanics and muscle physiology. These hands-on experiences allow students to expand their understanding of sports and exercise science and also provides an introduction to data science.

These programs will meet Monday-Friday from 9AM-3PM. This is a commuter program, so students who live beyond the distance for a daily commute will need to make their own arrangements for suitable accommodations in Boston. Room and board at Boston University will not be available in Summer 2023.

Fee:
One week – $1,000
Two weeks – $1,500
Scholarships are available for students who qualify for free/reduced price lunch program. Scholarships are also available for the children of full-time BU Faculty & Staff.

As of May 13, 2023, SummerLab is fully enrolled. We expect to announce the schedule for SummerLab 2024 by the end of January 2024.
