Boston is an international city that offers a blend of history, arts, food, and natural beauty. As a cardiology fellow at Boston Medical Center, you will be given the opportunity to explore this great city that we call home. Fellows often meet after work to check out the latest restaurants or shows in town. In addition, you can usually find some of our fellows venturing outside of the city for ski trips or hikes in the many surrounding national parks and nature preserves.

Boston Medical Center is located in the historic South End neighborhood of Boston. Some of our fellows live in this surrounding neighborhood and are able to walk or bike to work. Many of our fellows choose to live in other neighborhoods around the city. These include South Boston, Fenway, Cambridge, Brookline, Back Bay, Jamaica Plain, and Medford.

The VA is located in West Roxbury and is roughly a 30-45 minute drive from BMC. Many fellows have cars so that they are able to drive to the VA for clinics and inpatient rotations. However, a car is not required and some fellows choose to car pool, rent Zipcars, or use Lyft/Uber to get to the VA.

If you do bring a car to Boston, street parking is usually available in your neighborhood for free once you obtain a permit sticker from the City of Boston. Daily parking at BMC is available to housestaff at a discounted rate.
