BUSM’s Carmody Elected Chair of Academy of Emergency Ultrasound

BUSM department of Emergency Medicine Assistant Professor Kristin Carmody, MD, has been elected Chair of the Academy of Emergency Ultrasound (AEUS) beginning in 2013. AEUS is a community within the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) providing an international forum that brings together bedside clinician sonologists with the common goal of advancing patient care and safety by use of bedside ultrasound.

Dr. Carmody is a current board member of AEUS and will continue her involvement in Academy initiatives including: narrated lecture series, fellowship program and fellow education, resident education committee, AEUS grants, and medical student education. Dr. Carmody recently served as the faculty team captain at the 2012 Inaugural SAEM Sonogames, where her team claimed victory over 40 competing residency teams. The purpose of the competition was to allow residents to demonstrate their skills and knowledge of point of care ultrasound.
