Kazem Azadzoi, MD, research director of urology and professor of urology, pathology and laboratory medicine at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM), was selected as the recipient of the Best Reviewer in 2011 Award by the editors of The Journal of Urology.

“Careful and fair-minded evaluation of scientific articles is an important scholarly contribution and a gratifying duty in academics. I am honored to be the recipient of The Journal of Urology Best Reviewer in 2011 Award among many knowledgeable and thoughtful peer reviewers,” said Azadzoi.

Peer review is a vital process for any journal and enables publication of innovative research that meets the highest standards of quality. Azadzoi, who serves on the editorial board of The Journal of Urology, was chosen by his peers for his dedicated service and timely reviews of manuscripts on the pathophysiology of lower urinary tract dysfunction.

In addition to serving on multiple committees and editorial boards, Azadzoi has received many awards including the Jean-Francois Ginestie Prize, American Urological Association Circon Prize, being appointed to the International Continence Society (ICS) Hall of Fame in 2005 and being mentioned in Marquis Who’s Who in America, 2008.

The official announcement was made by Elsevier, the publisher of the journal, at the American Urological Association Annual Meeting in Atlanta earlier this month. An editorial will be published in the June issue of The Journal of Urology announcing Azadzoi as one of the Best Reviewers in 2011 recipients.
