Two BUSM Staff Members Named Recipients of Perkins Distinguished Service Award

Two Boston University School of Medicine staff members have been recognized with one of Boston University’s highest honors for service to the University. Registrar Ellen DiFiore and Celeste Rich, Laboratory Manager, Department of Biochemistry, have been named recipients of the John S. Perkins Distinguished Service Award.

The Perkins Award is presented to three people each year in recognition of their exemplary service to the University. The award was established in 1981 by the Faculty Council, and since 1984 has been sponsored by the estate of John S. Perkins, who served the University for more than 50 years in various capacities as faculty member, member of the administration, Trustee and Treasurer.

DiFiore and Rich will be honored at a ceremony and reception at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, in the Trustee Ballroom, 1 Silber Way, 9th Floor. Each will receive a cash prize of $500 and plaque recognizing their service to BU.
