Crumpler Academy Wins First BUSM Dodgeball Tournament

On Wednesday, Oct. 13, the Academies of Advisors Program at the BUSM held its first annual Dodgeball Tournament. The Rebecca Lee Crumpler Academy won this inaugural event, defeating the Louis W. Sullivan Academy three games to two in the final round of play.dodgeball 3

The Crumpler Academy team, also known as the “Trailblazers” (aka the Crumpinators), consisted of second year students Jon Dashkoff and Christopher Luke, and 1st year students Daniel Chung, Nikki Croteau, DJ Gadaleta, Apar Gupta, Lindsey Storer, and Christopher Tonn.

The Crumpinators benefitted from a first round bye due to the single elimination, blind draw tournament format. They faced off against a strong Keefer Academy team lead by second year students Bill Hammond, Ben Isakson, and a red-footie pajama clad Stephen Alerhand.dodgeball 1

As winners of the Academies Volleyball Tournament, the players and their entire Academy will receive a free breakfast buffet courtesy of the Academies Student Steering Committee and the Office of Student Affairs!

Crumpler Academy also won the 1st Annual Academies of Advisor Volleyball Tournament, held on Feb. 23, 2010. The Crumpinators will look to defend their Volleyball title at the 2nd Annual Volleyball Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011.

Created in the spring of 2003, the Academies is organized by the Office of Student Affairs and was designed to improve the advising and mentoring of our students through ongoing guidance and support from experienced faculty members, educators, and role models of professionalism. The ultimate goal of the Academies is to promote professional, ethical, and humanitarian values and for the students to develop meaningful and collegial relationships with their advisors.dodgeball 4
