Red Sox Honor Demierre as Medical All-Star

Marie-France Demierre, MD will be honored as a Medical-All Star by the Boston Red Sox prior to their April 24 game at Fenway Park.  Every Friday night throughout the season, the Red Sox recognize an outstanding member of the medical community during the pre-game ceremony.

Demierre, a Professor of Dermatology and Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine  (BUSM) and Director of the Skin Oncology Program at Boston Medical Center (BMC), will be honored for her tireless community work promoting sun safety awareness and education to children, teens and their parents.  She has been at the forefront of diagnosing and treating skin cancer since 1995 and has led numerous clinical trials and research aimed at early detection and the elimination of malignant melanomas.

Demierre is a graduate of McGill University, in Montreal, Canada.  She completed a Dermatology Residency at McGill University Hospital, a Fellowship in Skin Oncology at Boston Medical Center and is board certified in Dermatology.  In 2009 she received the Women’s Dermatologic Society Presidential Award.

Demierre is a member of the International Society for Cutaneous Lymphoma and the World Health Organization Melanoma Programme. Her clinical interests include skin oncology, malignant melanoma, cutaneous lymphoma and photopheresis. She oversees the care of patients with skin malignancies, particularly cutaneous lymphomas (both B and T cell types) and melanoma. She is fluent in French and Italian and is a lifetime member of Strathmore’s Who’s Who.
