Biography

Jose Alcibiades Fernandez Abinader, MD is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. He received his MD from Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) in 2005, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He went on to complete his Residency in Neurological Surgery at the University of Puerto Rico and a Fellowship in Complex Spine Surgery at Brown University. Areas of focus include Spinal Oncology and Deformity Surgery, Degenerative and Trauma Spine Surgery, Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. In addition, he has expertise in brain tumor resection, aneurysm clipping, microvascular decompression. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
