K23 award for Justin Lui
Justin K. Lui, MD, MS, FCCP, ATSF has been awarded a K23 Career Development Award from the NIH/NHLBI, titled “Role of B-cells in Systemic Sclerosis-related Pulmonary Hypertension,” designed to gain a more detailed understanding into the mechanisms and molecular pathways of systemic sclerosis-related pulmonary hypertension (SSc-PH). Employing a biorepository of patients with SSc, he hopes to create a deep endotyping of patients with and without PH using patterns of B-cell subsets, cytokines, autoantibodies, and mRNA gene expression profile. The overall significance of this work is to eventually help guide treatment by identifying patients who may potentially benefit from B-cell targeted approaches to therapy.
