Application Process

What we are looking for in Fellow Applicants:

Applicants who have excellent clinical skills and are caring individuals and who have shown a high level of responsibility and concern for patients (including indigent patients and patients of different cultural backgrounds). We aim to produce future Hematology/Oncologists who will be exemplars of compassionate medicine and highly sensitive to the social determinants of health as it applies to Hematology Oncology.

Although we are dedicated to producing expert and caring Hematologist/Oncologists we are also hopeful of producing academic leaders for the field. With this in mind we also prioritize applicants who are interested in careers in academic medicine based on interest in teaching and research (either clinical or basic). Fellows play important roles in teaching the vibrant residents and medical studies of Boston University School of Medicine and to some extent Harvard Medical School (at the Boston VA site).

The fellowship program is a member of the NRMP match system and applicants can rank the clinical Hematology and Oncology track online. Applicants interested in Geriatric Oncology track should select Geriatric Medicine fellowship and Geriatric Oncology Track.
