Daniel Newman Awarded Provider of the Year for Medicine by BMC Nurses

Every year during National Nurses Week, BMC nursing staff are asked to nominate colleagues for provider excellence awards. This year, the Section of GIM’s own Daniel Newman, MD has won Provider of the Year for Medicine!

Here are what colleagues had to say about Daniel Newman in their nominations:

“Dan is a wonderful partner to nursing in his role as CMIO. He looks for nursing input, values our opinions on changes and always includes the nursing informatics team in his work! Dan is working on improvements in medication ordering, transitions of care, and clinical decision support. Dan makes himself available to present at our monthly Nursing Informatics Councils. His sessions are always appreciated by our members, encourages their feedback, and are productive.”

“Dan Newman, who is currently acting as the CMIO, has worked on multiple IT initiatives with the nursing department. He sees value in shared opinions and a common goal. Dan reaches out on all initiatives to get feedback from nursing, knowing his build may impact nursing workflow as well as MD workflow. We have invited Dan multiple times to present at the NIC council meetings and he is received as a provider that values the opinion of nursing. Right now, he is closely working with nursing IT to build a workflow for Advanced Directives and Proxies. In the past he has worked on things such as heparin order workflow and Sepsis protocols. Nurses respect Dan for his clinical and IT knowledge and feel comfortable working with him to come to a common goal.”

Daniel Newman will be honored during Nurses Week (May 6-12) at the BMC awards ceremony. Provider of the Year awards will be presented on May 9th at approximately 2:45pm in the FGH building.
