Abstract:
Intensive Care clinicians sit on oceans of structured, unstructured, waveform, and imaging data—often noisy, but rich with untapped biomarkers. This talk outlines a possible pragmatic playbook for defining outcomes, selecting time windows, mitigating confounders, and translating signals (EEG/EOG, Brain4Care, pupillometry/CSF volumetrics) into clinically useful predictors of deterioration and recovery.

Learning outcomes:

  1. Describe a framework for clinical biomarker discovery (population, outcome, window, signal, confounders).
  2. Apply practical methods to clean, align, and model heterogeneous data sources for acute neurologic care.
  3. Design next-step protocols and teams to validate biomarkers and integrate them into workflows.
