Substance Use Teaching Project

SUTP Discussion - Sarah

Participants meet one-on-one with course faculty to develop a teaching project that can be implemented after the immersion training.  For example, chiefs could conduct a workshop for residents on mutual help treatment (e.g. Narcotics Anonymous [NA], Alcoholics Anonymous [AA]) and have the residents attend an NA meeting.

Skills Practice

Skills practice 14

Participants learn through doing.  Each person has the opportunity to work in small groups and through case vignettes. Experienced clinicians guide participants through the process of learning.

Educational Materials and Resources

Naloxone training 10

Participants receive valuable resources, including slide presentations, up-to-date reference materials, access to faculty during their chief residency, and a subscription to AODHealth.org, which contains summaries of the most up-to-date substance use research.
