Jeanne F. Arnold, M.D.

Dr. Arnold was born in Bridgeport, CT, grew up in Saylesville, Lincoln, RI and attended Hope High school, graduating in 1953.  She graduated from Colby College in 1957, and from Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine in 1961. She married Peter Faulkner Jeffries of Milton, MA in 1959 at Smithfield Avenue Congregational Church in Lincoln, RI.  She and her husband and children lived in Fairbanks, AK during Dr. Jeffries’ military service, and then practiced Family Medicine together in Peterborough, NH until 1979.  Dr. Arnold was faculty at Dartmouth Medical School and Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. She was faculty at Maine Dartmouth Family Practice Residency and Utica (NY) Family Practice Residency. Dr. Arnold was recruited to start two Family Medicine Residencies, in Janesville, WI and Malden, MA.  She lectured nationally about medical topics, including specialty choice for medical students, and treatment and prevention of domestic violence and child sexual abuse.  Dr. Arnold was the second woman to serve on the Board of the American Academy of Family Physicians. After retirement, Dr. Arnold and her husband were active in genealogy and community events in Walpole, NH.

Dr. Arnold and her family are grateful to the caring and compassionate team at Bayada Hospice for their comfort, guidance and assistance during Dr. Arnold’s comfort care at the end of her life.  They are also grateful to the many people who have provided compassionate care, especially Tracy Dunn, son Charles, and grandson Will, who provided live in care, Mike Delaney, who has supervised the team caring for their home, and Drs LaRocca, Liebow, and Uiterwyk who has provided caring and comprehensive medical service to Dr. Arnold and her husband.

Dr. Arnold is predesceased by daughter Joy and son Robert, and her parents Huldah Vose Arnold and Alfred Fenwick Arnold, of Lincoln, RI.

She is survived by her husband Peter, children Walter (Holly), Jennifer (Amer), John (Sue), Charles (Christine), Arthur (Kim), and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren. and great-great-grandchildren.
