Biography

Insa M. Schmidt, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine in the Section of Nephrology. Her research focuses on the epidemiology of kidney disease and the development of non-invasive biomarkers to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Her work has been supported by the American Philosophical Society, the American Society of Nephrology’s Carl W. Gottschalk Research Scholar Grant, and the Boston University Department of Medicine Research Accelerator Program. Committed to patient-oriented research, she is currently funded by an NIDDK K01 award to study advanced disease phenotyping and outcome prediction in CKD using multi-source data, including proteomics, digital pathology, and clinical information.
