Bob Vinci, MD, Appointed Assistant Dean for Student Affairs

Headshot of Dr. VinciBob Vinci, MD, has been appointed an assistant dean for student affairs. Vinci will join the team of deans in the Student Affairs Office beginning Sept. 1, 2023, to support medical students throughout their time here, bringing his years of experience advising trainees.

The current Chief and Chair of Pediatrics, last year Vinci announced his intention to step down from that role, effective June 30, 2023.  A member of our community for more than 40 years, he began his career as a pediatric resident at what was then Boston City Hospital (now Boston Medical Center/BMC) in 1980. He went on to hold various leadership positions at BMC and the medical school before being named as the Chief and Chair of Pediatrics and the Joel and Barbara Alpert Professor of Pediatrics in 2013.

From his earliest days on our campus, Vinci has been known as a partner to his clinical colleagues, students and patients, and he has made abundant contributions to our community over the years, including the creation of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and the establishment of the Boston Combined Residency Program, among many others. To put it simply, the Department has soared under his leadership. Please click here to read more about Vinci.
