Outpatient Clinic Rotation

Outpatient Clinic Rotations

First year:

During the first-year of training, fellows have one half-day clinic per week. This clinic is a subspecialty attending clinic that will rotate every four months. The fellow will see patients independently and then consult with the respective attending. The fellow will see a broad array of outpatient diseases referred from over 110 affiliated institutions. They will work with Boston’s leading specialists and treat patients with a variety of diseases, ranging from general GI disorders, pancreatic, biliary, and liver diseases, motility disorders, and inflammatory bowel disease.

Second and third years:

The second and third-year fellows continue to rotate through subspecialty attending clinic every four months, as described above. The clinical fellow will have the option of adding additional sub-specialty attending clinics to his or her schedule to intensify his or her clinical exposure and experience.

In addition, in the second year, fellows begin their own weekly continuity clinic. During this time, the fellow will develop his or her own personal clinical style while participating in the continuity care for outpatients and fostering a strong patient-doctor relationship.

Furthermore, during all three years, fellows participate in one half-day of clinic at the Jamaica Plain VA. This is scheduled on average every 4-8 weeks per fellow.
