Gastroenterology fellows take call at both the VA and Boston Medical Center. While on service, GI fellows are responsible for the care of all gastroenterology and hepatology cases. During the first year, fellows spend eleven months on service, with approximately fourteen weeks of call. This rotation is structured to provide fellows with the independence and experience necessary to develop a sound knowledge base of the diagnosis and management of more complex and unusual medical problems. Furthermore, during this service rotation, fellows have the opportunity to serve in a supervisory capacity for medical students and residents.
