BESST (Boston University Evidence-based SBIRT Student Training) Project

The BESST Project has devised a flexible, multi-disciplinary, culturally competent, sustainable, and clinically relevant service model for integrating SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) training into health profession curricula. Training recipients will be medical, dental, pharmacy, and physical/occupational therapy students from Boston University and Northeastern University. The BESST Project will increase future capacity to address substance use and prescription drug misuse in health care settings through an innovative Train-the-Trainer model, interdepartmental collaboration, and curricular enhancement.
