Dr. Ligresti is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine (Pulmonary center and Arthritis center). His research focuses on tissue injury and fibrosis with specific emphasis on pathological mechanisms driving lung fibrosis including altered epigenetic programs contributing to sustained fibroblast activation during lung fibrogenesis. Additionally, his lab is interested in investigating molecular mechanisms leading to mitochondrial dysfunction in fibroblasts and endothelial cells during aging as well as understanding how these alterations contribute to lung fibrosis progression.
