My name is Reema Elrefaie and I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston this past Spring of 2024 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and a Minor in Secondary Education. I was born in Weymouth, MA and love being in Boston. I am very interested in researching cancer biology, specifically, how do our genes, environmental factors and hormones affect gene expression to create the onset of uncontrolled cell growth? Some of my hobbies include ice skating and reading and am learning to crochet as well! I also love being in the ocean and love to travel and explore new places when I can.
Hello! My name is Mackenzie Urbano and I was born and raised in the beautiful island of Guam! After completing my bachelor degrees in Biology and Chemistry at the University of Guam, I moved to Portland, OR where I currently reside. My current research interest are in drug development and discovery for cancers linked to substance abuse and it’s cellular mechanisms. As for hobbies I enjoy dancing, makeup, traveling, going to concerts, and hiking! I am very excited to be a ACS DICR fellow at BU and to work with my peers and the faculty!
My name is Theresa, but most of my friends call me Tess! I am super passionate about regenerative medicine and translational research, especially as it pertains to immunology. I just graduated from WPI, where I studied biomedical engineering with a focus in biomaterials. Outside of the lab, I love anything that has to do with coffee, plants, books, and art.
