Craig Noronha Receives SGIM Education Mentorship Award

Craig Noronha, MD, FACP — a Clinical Associate Professor in the Section of GIM — received the 2026 Mid-Career Education Mentorship Award from the Society of General Internal Medicine. The award recognizes general medicine educators who have demonstrated a strong commitment to mentorship, teaching, and scholarship and shown personal investment in their mentees, supporting both their personal and professional growth. Dr. Noronha has consistently prioritized his mentees’ professional advancement over his own self-promotion or career advancement.

Dr. Noronha has served as Associate Program Director for the internal medicine residency program since 2011, including a stint as interim PD. He championed quality improvement education within the residency program and institution. His APD-associated roles have included Ambulatory Curriculum Director, Director of Resident Career Development, Course Director of High Value Care Curriculum, and Assessment/Feedback Director. He has served as the Faculty Mentor for the CAMED Choosing Wisely STARS Program and co-led the Field Specific Advising program for internal medicine.

“He is renowned at our institution as a networker, understanding others’ needs and goals, and linking peers together to help accomplish goals that may not be his own.”

Dr. Noronha has supported the career development of 60 mentees over the past 15 years, including medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty. Mentees describe his tireless advocacy, enthusiasm for education, and sense of humor. Congratulations, Dr. Noronha!
