Alysse Wurcel Selected as Health Equity Champion Honoree

Alysse Wurcel, an Associate Professor of Medicine and a clinician investigator in the Section of General Internal Medicine, has been selected by the Infectious Diseases Society of America as a Health Equity Champion Honoree. Dr. Wurcel is a nationally recognized clinician investigator with over 20 years of expertise in infectious diseases and experience working with people with HIV, people who are incarcerated, and people who use drugs.
Dr. Wurcel’s research portfolio is characterized by a commitment to health equity, development of systems-based strategies to improve healthcare, and engagement of a broad array of stakeholders. She is Multiple Principal Investigator on two National Institutes of Health R-level grants: a research project to improve equitable access to penicillin allergy de-labeling and an exploratory/development grant to improve systems of infectious diseases care in Suffolk County jails. She has published over 115 peer-reviewed manuscripts advancing the science of health services research.
