Learn About EdTech Platforms & Training Opportunities

BUMC faculty and staff: Here are tools, resources, training and support to ensure success in teaching and presenting, courtesy of the BUMC Educational Technology team.
  • TurningPoint Rebranded as PointSolutions: Due to a merger between our primary classroom polling vendor and our lecture capture recording vendor, the polling software is now called PointSolutions (powered by Echo360).
    • Upgrade your TurningPoint software to PointSolutions. See our  Instructor Guide for more information.
    • Look for the new PointSolutions icon on all instructional computers. (PointSolutions has the SAME functionality, it’s just a rebrand.)
    • Note: This is a subscription-based tool requiring schools and programs to buy licenses. Please reach out to edtech@bu.edu if you’d like to learn more on pricing or explore training options.
  • Blackboard Ally: BU has recently set up full university licensing for Blackboard Ally– a tool to help faculty and course program staff ensure their Blackboard courses are as accessible as possible. Ally will be a course opt-in by school/program. Instructors should check with their program leaders/deans before requesting opt-in.
  • Fall EdTech Training Schedule is ready: Need a class on Ally, WordPress, Adobe Illustrator, Qualtrics, or NVIVO? Check out in-person or online classes, and register here.
    • Additional online classes sessions will be announced by CRC colleagues soon. Not seeing the session you need? Request a training and we will review and coordinate a time or refer you accordingly.
  • Godley Digital Media Studio Open House Demos: Faculty interested in making quality digital media recordings for flipped or other class content: Register here for an open house/demo session.
  • ExamSoft Users: Report Exam Dates to the Educational Technologists
    • Submit the ExamSoft Support Request Form if you haven’t already done so.
    • We can assist with course creation, posting assessments, creating and/or editing exam questions and categories.
    • Note: ExamSoft is a licensed product paid for by some schools/programs – if you are a new user, check with your dean before signing up for a course to ensure your students are already licensed or that funding is available to add them.
  • Additional Educational Technology Resources

The BUMC Educational Technology team looks forward to supporting you this academic year to help enhance the teaching and learning experience for you and your students. Please reach out for any assistance you may need.
