Fellow Immersion Training (FIT) Program in Addiction Medicine

Program Description and Target Audience:

The FIT Program is a four-day intensive training program to prepare fellows from Infectious Disease (ID) or other subspecialty groups with training in HIV/ HCV to incorporate drug use issues into research, teaching, and clinical practice.

Interactions will encourage fellows to incorporate substance use assessments and interventions when developing their own research projects addressing HIV or HCV.

The FIT Program will be hosted in conjuction with the Chief Resident Immersion Training (CRIT) Program to obtain similar evidence-based skills. Click here to learn more about the CRIT Program.

 Program Objectives:

  • Understand the scientific foundation of addiction medicine and its relationship to infectious diseases (IDs) such as HIV and HCV
  • Improve substance use clinical skills
  • Consider opportunities that integrate substance use issues in HIV or HCV research projects
  • Adopt an ID educational project with an addiction focus

 Application:

Applications for the 2012 FIT Program will be available online in November 2011.

Location:

The FIT Program will be held on May 2-5, 2012 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
