Energy Conservation

The Sustainability Committee was originally created in 2007 to address energy conservation issues and promote campus initiatives to reduce our electricity, steam, and oil use.  The use of fossil fuels to power our buildings and appliances is one of the largest ways in which the BUMC contributes to global climate change.  Below are the projects currently taking place to change energy usage on campus.

Overall Energy Conservation

The Office of Facilities Management has steadily replaced old lighting fixtures and bulbs with new, energy efficient bulbs over the course of the past few years.

Public Safety, in conjunction with NStar and the BUMC TranSComm, was able to replace the lighting in the 710 Albany Street Garage with energy-efficient bulbs as part of an energy saving grant.
