The Mirage of Sloth

Digital art, completed in 2021.

From the artist:
“I’ve always liked the idea of drawing the seven deadly sins, but this piece also touches on the “sloth” that is typical when one is dealing with depression. Technically, the key to unlock the shackle is within reach, but depression is so debilitating that even a simple task is immensely difficult. But if you look closer both the shackles and the key are blurred out, similar to a mirage, representing how to an outsider it seems like there’s nothing but their own laziness that is holding the person back from getting up.”
