GSDM Reps Attend ASDA Eastern Regional Meeting
Six student representatives from GSDM attended the ASDA Eastern Regional Meeting in Buffalo, New York, September 23-25. The group took part in lectures, seminars, and advocacy training alongside students from thirteen other dental schools.
The conference focused on leadership development, advocacy training, and involvement in organized dentistry. Featured speakers included ADA President-elect Dr. William Calnon, 2008-10 ADPAC Chairman Dr. Roger Triftshauser, and ASDA President Adam Shisler. The students also participated in breakout sessions on key dental issues, training for the House of Delegates, chapter idea exchanges, and district caucuses.
“The ASDA Eastern Regional Meeting was a great opportunity to share and exchange ideas that will improve our chapter,” said James Lee DMD 14. “We look forward to implementing many of these new ideas and creating additional opportunities for BU dental students to continue developing their leadership skills.”
This year the BU ASDA Chapter, led by Dee Gulis DMD 12 and Rachel Lukas DMD 13, received the Outstanding Chapter Contribution Award. The BU ASDA chapter was recognized for its strong leadership, inter-chapter communication, and community service and advocacy efforts.
