GSDM Endodontics Welcomes New Residents and Honors Dr. Harold J. Levin

Herbert Schilder Professor in Endodontics and Director of the Postdoctoral Program in Endodontics Dr. George Huang hosted a reception to welcome the new and returning residents of the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) Postdoctoral Program in Endodontics on Friday, November 5, at The Castle.

Dr. Huang addressed the crowd, thanking them for attending the celebratory event, and called each of the first-year residents to the podium to introduce themselves and say a little bit about their backgrounds.Dr. George Huang

The following residents were welcomed to the CAGS program, with an anticipated graduation year of 2012: Adela Agolli Tarshi, Ghyath Alkhalil, Jason Conn, Usman Fazli, Samuel Gegamian, Laila Kafi, Hongsheng Liu, Marci Mazzuca, Michael Pauk, and Bing Wan. Yasmine Basseghi and Laura Piroutek were also recognized but were not able to attend the reception.

The following residents were welcomed to the MSD program, with an anticipated graduation year of 2013: Adriana Baiz, Philippe Gauthier, Jamie Tran, and Seyed RezaYasini.

The following residents were welcomed to the DScD program, with an anticipated graduation year of 2015: Mohammed AlShahrani, Haytham Jaha, and Hsiao-Ying. Obadah Attar was also recognized as part of this group, but was not able to attend the reception.

“On July 1, I met with all the new residents to explain the high standard of excellence that would be expected of them throughout their training.” said Dr. Huang, “This program has a reputation for emphasizing clinical excellence, strong scholarship, and research. In the past few months I have been pleased to see the new residents very motivated in all aspects of their learning. I am sure they will be excellent clinicians and scholars at the time of their graduation.”

Also during the reception Professor of Endodontics Dr. Harold J. Levin was honored for his outstanding dedication and service to the School, which has spanned over four decades. Dr. Levin is a 1962 graduate of the Endodontics Program at GSDM.

“Dr. Levin has been a mainstay in the Department of Endodontics for many, many years,” said Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter. “He is a wonderful teacher and endodontist and I know that current and past students have been extremely grateful for the part he has played in their education here at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.”
