Program History

This program was developed by faculty within the Clinical Addiction Research and Education (CARE) Unit at Boston Medical Center in collaboration with the Boston University Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship with (Dr. John Renner) and the Primary Care Academic Fellowship Programs  (Dr. Michael Paasche-Orlow).

Timeline:

1997 –Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship Established

 2011 – Addiction Medicine Fellowship

              ”Accredited” by  (American Board of Addiction Medicine) ABAM in first cohort

2015 – Addiction Consult Service founded

2016 – CATALYST and Faster Paths founded

              ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialties) recognizes addiction medicine

2017 – Grayken Gift ($25M) to Boston Medical Center

2018 – ACGME( Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) accreditation

2020 – HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) funding for community health center and addiction psychiatry collaboration

2021- OB/Gyn  Addiction Fellowship Established
