Physician Researchers in Training (PRiT)

PRiT is a 6-to-7 week summer program that provides mentored research experiences to medical, graduate, and other qualified external students interested in addiction research. Students will be paired with a faculty mentor who has similar interests or focus areas. The program also includes didactic sessions and clinical observations.
2026 program dates: May 26th – July 10th
Program Objectives
Through program participation, students will:
- Gain experience in addiction research design, research participant recruitment, data collection, data analysis, literature reviews, and/or data presentation.
- Expand their knowledge on various substance use topics, ranging from harm reduction to social determinants of addiction.
- Acquire clinical exposure to the screening, diagnosing and treating of patients with unhealthy drug and alcohol use.
Target Audience
PRiT runs in conjunction with the BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine’s Medical Student Summer Research Program. While the primary audience comprises of 1st year Boston University medical students, the program also welcomes participation from non-medical students and qualified external students (e.g. graduate, international, other medical).
