Conferences

The Grayken Fellowship in Addiction Medicine works collaboratively with the BU Addiction Psychiatry, GIM Fellowship and Preventive Medicine Residency program to include shared conferences between the programs.

Conferences include:

  • CARE Case Conferences
    • A monthly fellow led clinical case conference
  • GIM/Medicine Grand Rounds
    • Twice weekly presentation on a variety of clinical topics
  • Fellowship Conferences
    • Informal weekly conference where fellows meet with each other, fellowship directors, and program administrators to review the week and discuss clinical conundrums
  • Health Equity Rounds
    • An Interdisciplinary Case Conference with the Pediatrics Residency Program to Address Implicit Bias and Structural Racism for Faculty and Trainees
  • American College of Academic Addiction Medicine (ACAAM) weekly didactics
    • Didactics every Wednesday hosted by ACAAM open to addiction medicine fellows across the country
  • National Conferences
    • We encourage and support attendance at the Association for Multidisciplinary Education and Research in Substance use and Addiction (AMERSA) and American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) annually

Education

Fellows have the opportunity to develop their educational interests in the areas of public Health, education and science. Fellows can participate in teaching opportunities through various initiatives in the community and across campus including at Boston University School of Medicine and training programs at Boston Medical Center.

Examples:

  • Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) and harm reduction training for medical students
  • Family Medicine and Internal Medicine academic half days
  • Grayken Center for Addiction Training and Technical Assistance
  • Boston Public School Acceleration Academy

Scholarly Work and Research Skills

Fellows are also able to pursue research interests including analytic and research skills in addiction epidemiology and health services delivery. Former fellows have published on variety of topics including clinical innovations, harm reduction, overdose prevention and education.
