The Henry I Russek Award Nominating Committee and the Executive Committee certainly had a tough time choosing this year’s winners as the competition was keen.  We want to start by thanking the nominating committee for their efforts; Dr. Costello, Dr. Farmer, Dr. Kandror, Dr. Pilch and Dr. Schreiber.  Importantly, we want to thank all of applicants for their contributions and we look forward to seeing their work displayed on Russek Day.

Now for the Department of Biochemistry’s winners of the Henry I. Russek Student Achievement Day 2016; the third prize was awarded to Carly Cederquist, who is a student in Dr. Perissi’s lab; the second prize was awarded to Kshitij Khatri, who is a student in Dr. Zaia’s lab; the first prize was awarded to Aleks Szymaniak, who is a student in Dr. Varelas’s lab .  Our congratulations go out to all of the winners as well as their advisors!

So, we’ll see you all on Friday, May 6th in Hiebert Lounge for Henry I. Russek Student Achievement Day 2016.  For those of you who have never attended, this is a day devoted to our graduate students, with presentations from students throughout the Division of Graduate Medical Sciences.  For those of you who have attended before, you know what’s in store, and for the newcomers, I assure you that you won’t be disappointed as Dr. Russek and the Division of Graduate Medical Sciences always plan a great day.  Thanks to the generous contributions of Dr. Russek and her family, the event promises to be a memorable one with the keynote address to be delivered by Dr. James Bradner, President of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research.
